Chris Hall - Blog #2

1. So the site I chose for blog assignment #2 is half.com. However the aspect of this sight that I am focusing on is the selection tabs at the top, and the further categories that appear on the left side of the page in relation to which tab you select.

2. The reason I find this part of the site to be an “obvious design” as Robert Hoekman, Jr. calls it, is the way these categories help you to narrow down what you it is you’re looking for. A lot of times we type the name of something we are searching for into a search bar and get a large number of matches. Of these however only a few are related to what we are actually searching for. This site, with its categorical system, tried to eliminate some of those excess matches. The other great aspect of this site is that it does not force the user to do anything if they don’t wish to. They are free to just type in what they are looking for and search as they please. In this way the system works for the user not against them, in that it will do only as much work (narrowing down the search) as the use wants.
