Bethany Hufford - Blog 5

A user's mental model is what they believe to be true, based on experience, that helps them understand what something is and how to use it. For our project we choose to use the keys. A user generally doesn't believe that keys have a personality. However, they do interact with doors and other objects by allowing them to open and lock or unlock. The largest contrast with the programmers model is the aspect of a personality. Keys don't talk or generally give information and users will not have a mental model formed for this, but a programmer designing it will.
