Steve Flockenhaus-Blog 4

Any user can never be totally conscious of all of his/her needs.  If a user is always right, what need would we have for designers?  The point of a user is to give feedback and input about their needs for a product.  The "user-centered"-ness Hoekman talks about is a compilation of user's needs.  It is not the intention of a designer to appeal to the needs of every user, the intent is to make a product easy and simple to use that can accomplish the tasks advertised.  Many times users think about how convenient one aspect would be in one situation and not about how that aspect will change other aspects of the design.

Regarding the stationary bike from project #2:
Interface surgery
(1) remove number pad so as to eliminate the cluttered look of the panel and simply use the scroll arrows
(2) change various exercise buttons to simply "select exercise" and then use arrows to navigate through various workouts
